Solbakk Utleie
Rental terms
These terms apply to equipment hired from Solbakk Utleie and are supplemented by the quotation, order confirmation or specific rental agreement. If they conflict, the specific agreement applies unless mandatory law gives the renter stronger rights.

Agreement, identification and competence
A reservation becomes binding when confirmed in writing. The confirmation or rental agreement must state the price, rental period, any deposit, payment deadline, collection or delivery and any special terms.
The renter must present valid identification and, where relevant, a valid driving entitlement, documented training or other required professional competence.
Handover, instruction and scaffolding
At handover, we review the equipment with the renter, demonstrate basic operation and make the manufacturer’s instructions available where relevant. The parties should check that the equipment and accessories are complete and record visible damage or shortages. This review does not replace statutory training or required competence.
Where Solbakk Utleie has agreed to erect scaffolding, it is erected and inspected before use by personnel with the necessary competence for its type and height. The renter must not move, alter or dismantle it without written agreement and must follow signs, inspection records, load limits and applicable safety rules.
Rental period, return and collection
The rental period starts at the agreed time when the equipment is available for collection or has been delivered. If Solbakk Utleie is delayed, the period starts only when the equipment is actually available. The quoted daily, weekend or weekly price covers the agreed period. Time begun beyond that period may be charged as a new price period.
Where Solbakk Utleie is to collect, no extra rent is charged because we collect after the agreed end time, provided the equipment is ready and is not used further. Any extension must be agreed before the rental period expires.
Responsible use and safety
The renter is responsible for safe transport, load securing, storage and use. Equipment may only be used for its intended purpose, in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and with necessary protective equipment. Equipment is CE marked where required. CE marking is the manufacturer’s declaration of conformity, not approval by an authority.
The renter, and the employer where equipment is used at work, must ensure that users have the necessary training and competence. Solbakk Utleie is not liable for loss caused by use contrary to instructions, the agreement or safety requirements. This does not limit liability under mandatory law or for matters for which Solbakk Utleie is responsible.
Damage, loss, theft and vandalism
The renter is responsible for the equipment from accepted handover until it is returned or made ready for agreed collection. Damage, loss, faults or missing parts must be reported immediately. Equipment must not be repaired or modified without written agreement.
Theft or vandalism must be reported to the police without undue delay and written confirmation sent to Solbakk Utleie. In the event of theft, the ongoing rental charge ends when we receive that confirmation. Liability for the loss is assessed separately under the agreement and applicable law.
Where the renter is liable, Solbakk Utleie may recover documented, necessary and reasonable cleaning, repair or replacement costs. Age, use and residual value are taken into account, and a claim will not exceed the documented financial loss. Normal wear and damage recorded at handover are excluded.
Cleaning and paint residue
Equipment must be returned tidy and in the same clean condition as at handover, allowing for normal use and wear. Extensive paint, plaster, concrete or other residue requiring extra cleaning or causing damage is assessed individually. Any claim is based on documented necessary cost or actual loss in value.
Trailers and insurance
Separate motor liability insurance is not compulsory for trailers in Norway. The renter must nevertheless check that the car, driving entitlement and insurance cover the planned journey and is responsible for lawful coupling, loading and load securing. Cover for damage to the trailer itself may vary and should be checked with the renter’s insurer.
For damage to the trailer itself for which the renter is liable, documented repair cost is charged, capped at NOK 10,000 per damage event.
Faults during the rental
Stop using equipment that behaves abnormally, is damaged or may be unsafe. Contact Solbakk Utleie as soon as possible so we can assess the fault and agree a safe solution. Do not continue use that may worsen the damage.
Cancellation and delay
For cancellation less than 24 hours before the agreed start, Solbakk Utleie may charge up to 30 per cent of the agreed rental price, provided the amount is reasonable and does not exceed our documented loss. This does not restrict mandatory consumer rights, including any applicable right of withdrawal.
If we cannot supply on time, no rent is charged for the period when the equipment was unavailable. The parties will agree a new start time or another solution.
Invoicing and payment
Invoices are sent as soon as practicable and normally no later than seven days after the rental ends. Long-term rentals are normally invoiced monthly. Payment deadline, deposit and any supplements are stated in the quotation, confirmation or rental agreement.
